Aaliyah Dana Haughton exploded into fame in 1994, after she debuted her first album Age Ain't Nothing But a Number. The album came out as Gold when she was 15 years old. It was made as a collaboration that was highly influenced by R. Kelly and it placed her in the limelight. In 1996, she released her sophomore album One In A Million with Jermaine dupri and Timbaland. The album contained the number one hit track If Your Girl Only had known. Aaliyah gained notoriety as an R&B singer after the album's release. In 2000, she appeared alongside the martial arts icon Jet Li as Jet Li in Romeo Must Die. Joel Silver, film producer and director of Romeo Must Die spotted her at an awards ceremony. The film she was in was the Anne Rice-based vampire film Queen of the Damned, which premiered in 2002. The Matrix Sequels saw her playing Zee, after appearing as a character in The Matrix Reloaded (2003) and The Matrix Revolutions that same year. She has also been featured in commercials of major brands like international car manufacturer Volvo. She lives at Los Angeles along with her spouse, daughter, and husband.
